The Best Holiday Destination Ever!

For Homework this week (Week 6 Term 1):

Complete your Mathletic tasks.
Fill out your Reading Log (In your Reading Folder).

I want to go on a holiday. I want to get away from the winds of Johnsonville and relax. The only problem is that I have never travelled before and I have no idea where to go. Please help me! Tell me where I should go and why, tell me how much it is going to cost and tell me why it is better than any other place in the whole world. Persuade me why I should go to your favourite destination instead of the rest of the classes. Good luck!

As we talked about in class, how do we ensure that everyone is held accountable for their homework? I would love to hear your ideas.

  1. The best holiday destination in my opinion is the maldives because its a tiny island in south asia with plenty of marine life and coral. The hotels there are amazing and the beaches are fantastic too with water so warm that when most people are snorkeling/diving they don't even wear a wetsuit. The cost of a plane there and back is about $4,302 while the more luxurious hotels are around $2,778 for a day

  2. I think that Santa Monica would be the best place for you to go. Here are a few reasons why.
In Santa Monica I have found a hotel for $269 per night. It has had really good ratings and is at a perfect location. Your flights will cost $1,118 on air New Zealand. In total your trip will cost around $1386 and you will probably spend more when you get there.

Santa Monica is a great place to relax in the sun in fact it can get up to 36 degrees but usauly it will stay at a comfortable temperature of 22 degrees. It has plenty of amazing beaches and a pier with lots of cool rides.
When I went to Santa Monica I thought it was a dream, it was amazing. The people are really nice and really helpful.
The food there is really good too I thought it was such a great way to end the day by going and sitting outside with the sun going down in front of you and eating some amazing food.
Overall I think Santa Monica would be a great place for you to get away from windy Johnsonville.

  3. You said you want to relax, right? If so a wonderful place to go would be Miami, because of the beaches and it is so warm there, if you were to go, I would recommend bringing shorts, t-shirts or singlets and togs.

If you stayed in Miami for 1 month, and you left on Saturday the 2nd of April to the 2nd of May, and you flew in economy class it would cost $2126 to get there. However the price for premium economy is $3426 and for business class its $7476. The return flight on Monday the 2nd would cost $1276 for economy class. I would recommend going for the Premium up, which includes Premium seating, with increased leg room, and fine cuisine and beverages. However Economy class has: In flight meals and beverages, and on demand entertainment.

So what are you waiting for, stop picturing yourself sitting on a beach with sunglasses and an umbrella over yourself, and go do it!

i think the best place is to go on holiday is space!!! yes it does cost a lot of money 250,000 to be precise but when you get there imagine it waking up every morning and seeing the best view on the planet which is the planet! and also you will be able to talk with all the scientists on the international space station.but there is one more thing that will trump any other holiday resort imagine zooming around your space ship in a spacesuit in zero gravity! it would literally be like flying!!!!

hop you go there by ollie.

  5. I think the best place to go on holiday is Fiji. With the warm sun and beautifully clear ocean, you can’t say there are any winds there! With so many fun activities such as snorkelling in the reef with the fish and hiking up Fiji’s highest mountain, you just can’t say no!

If you left as soon as the holidays began (after school, 15th April), you could get Economy ‘The Works’, which includes a meal, movies and choice of seat for $628 on Air NZ. With Premium Economy, you can get more leg space, leather seats, a deluxe menu and more. You would get there in only 5 hours and 45 minutes.

Accommodation is an easy fix! The poolside room at Oasis Palms has view of the pool and many amenities. These include air conditioning, WiFi, a TV, coffee/tea making facility, room safe, hairdryer, outdoor terrace seating, mini bar and a lounge area. All this from $139NZD per night!

As fun as all this sounds, you will probably get bored quickly. That’s why there are tons of activities for you to do. Some things to do that may interest you are Coralview Shark dive, Flyboarding and Paddleboarding!

When the fun is over, on the day the holidays end, you will have to return. On that day, Economy ‘The Works’ is $606 and Premium Economy is $946.

I hope you choose Fiji for your next holiday!

  6. I think Fiji is the best place to stay. You can fly direct from wellington and the flight doesn't take long because it's relatively close and they speak English. They have a great variety of resorts and I recommend Outrigger on the lagoon. It is located Sydney Drive, Off The Queens Highway, Sigatoka, Fiji. It has a 5 star hotel and has great activities you could do. e.g.. scuba diving, snorkelling, fishing, Kayaking, and much more.

If you have kids there is a kids club they take kids 3-12 and a teen program 13+ so you can relax while they're having fun. The activities are stuff like ice-cream eating competition, crab racing, movie night and so on.Not to mention the great breakfast buffet it has fresh fruit, ready made smoothies, pancakes, French toast, waffles etc.. and they baby sit your kids if they finish early. It also in the same time zone.

    Costs

Accommodation & Breakfast per person for a week -$800!

    Flights
Air New Zealand enjoy a meal, gate-to-gate movies and Seat Select
    $3,078.00

If you go there have a great time I sure did.

  7. Did you say you wanted to get away from the winds of Johnsonville and relax? Well I think that Bali is the best place to go! I managed to get a return cheap flight on Thursday the 15th of December and coming back on the Monday the 30th of January. Its only $1,045 that takes 12 hours and 40 minutes compare to the another flight that take only 10 hours and 30 minutes. But cost an additional $2,221. Imagine that you can actually use that money to look for a cheap place stay. I found a place called Hotel Sunset Seminyak that costs NZ$40 a night. It has beautiful sandy beaches and also spa offering traditional treatment and healing technique which is good to relax our body. At the end of the day you can have a drink at a designer bar. It is also a shopping heaven. Surprisingly this place which has so many entertainment is actually just 6 to 7 kilometers away from the airport.

  8. Relaxing eh, boy, you're gonna love this then. I think you should go to Russell (in the Bay of Islands). I can get you return flights for $392 to Kerikeri, then you can easily rent a car and take the relaxing hour's drive (including a car ferry) to New Zealand's best treasure. In terms of accommodation, I can get you a waterfront holiday home for roughly $860 per night. Some of many features include a hot tub, a patio and even a tennis court! Trust me when I say this, all you will want to do every day will be to just hang out on the waterfront and the beach. If you want you can spend a day at Long Beach, but there is just so much to do in the village. Go to the duke of marlborough for dinner at least once and go to the souvenir shop every once in a while. There are several good art galleries and you can hire a boat for fishing or just some time out on the water. There's a ferry that goes to the nearby town of Paihea where there is a pleasant little market. Just so that we are on this: EVERYTHING IN RUSSELL IS AMAZING!

  11. I think the best place to go on holiday is definitely Los Angeles! It has beaming sun and a low breeze! Also Disneyland and Legoland which are sure to add more fun and excitement. It will cost you approximately $2198 to fly there and $272 dollars per night to stay at the best hotel ever. You could stay in the centre of Los Angeles city with a beautiful view and an outdoor swimming pool that's heated, along with a fitness centre and a restaurant. Currently it is not windy in Los Angeles and in the last week the wind has only got up to 34km. Also to add on to the amazing weather it doesn't really rain in Los Angeles - it's mostly just a misty drizzle that goes away after a few minutes. When you are in Los Angeles, don’t forget to visit Hollywood and have heaps of fun at universal studios. If you are into animals, a short trip away is San Diego zoo. I believe that Los Angeles is the best holiday destination ever and I really hope that you choose Los Angeles for your holiday.

    1. I think that a good method of making sure we do our homework is to make people who haven’t done their homework do it while everyone else does a fun activity like a game or P.E. This means that next time they will do their homework so they don’t miss out on the fun activity.

  14. Mana Island Fiji

Relax, no winds, aren't you just saying Fiji Mana Island (trust me I’ve been to heaps of Fijian islands and Mana is the best). Mana is just the most warm relaxing place I’ve ever been to.
Fiji is only a 3.5 hour direct flight from Wellington airport. Imagine that 3.5 hours on a plane and suddenly you are in a sunshine paradise.

If you want a cultural experience then you can stay in the village at the backpackers for the great value of $350 per week. If you want a more luxury experience then stay at the Mana Island Resort for a higher price of $1,992.

Getting to the island there are a number of amazing sites and views.
You can see reefs, small fish, beautiful light blue sea making you think why you hadn’t jumped in already (you have to bring a camera) all for $95 each way.

Mana Island is filled with awesome stuff you can do from relaxing in the adults only pool to watching the sunset after an amazing day, snorkeling with the multi coloured fish or accidentally falling asleep on the beach under a tree. Even the food there is heaven. You can have buffet 3 times a day if you want. Fiji is awesome in every way.

Flights:Air New Zealand direct flights $213 each way
    Ferry: $95 each way
Mana Island Resort :$1,992 per week, buffet included in the price
    or
Backpackers in the village $350 per week with affordable local food.

  18. Thailand-Phuket

You said you wanted to go away for a little bit? Well Phuket is the place! I recommend Phuket in thailand. Air New Zealand can easily get you there for $768. And we stayed at the perfect hotel called Centara Karon Resort for only $177! (And that includes breakfast!)

This perfect Resort is right next to the lovely beach which is handy with all the permanent sun! And if you are there for new year’s eve, they put on a huge show.
There is a bus as well. It is a little truck that somebody cut the back out and put doors on and you sit on benches. The whole place is full of great unique markets.

Phuket is an amazing place and the people are so nice and helpful with directions. It is so beautiful and I know my family and I definitely loved it.

I think Phuket is a definite must do. I hope you go and I’m sure you will love it!

  19. I think one of the best places to go on holiday would be Bali, Indonesia. Complete with gorgeous beaches, amazing shopping centers and interesting wildlife.

    -Flight-
The flight there is $883 via Auckland and the flight back is $803, again via Auckland.

    -Accommodation-
I found a great hotel called the Sol Beach House Benoa which comes with free breakfast, free wifi and free parking and great service reviews. It is also near the beach, has 3 restaurants, a full-service spa and an outdoor pool. The cost is $96 per night.

    -Entertainment-
There are many fun things to do in Bali. For example, you could go to Monkey Forest in Ubud where you can walk around and see all the monkeys roaming around, and look at the nature surrounding the area.(from my personal experience, its awesome) 1 adult ticket costs 20,000IDR (roughly 2.30NZD)
Another attraction is the Bali Safari and Marine Park, where for roughly $82NZD you can go on the safari journey, explore the aquarium, watch the animal and elephant show and have access to the waterpark.
And of course there are heaps of great beaches, malls and restaurants.

I hope you go there and enjoy it as much as I did.

  21. So you want the most luxurious place on earth. Do you want an amazing holiday without any kids yelling and shouting like crazy noobs? Have you ever wanted to swim with giant mantal rays? Do you ever want to just lie down on a hammock, sipping on a cocktail, reading a book with complete silence? Then your relaxing holiday destination is without a dout, Paradise Cove - Fiji.

With a whole range of activities for children and adults you can never be bored at this island. The list of exciting things to do are long so I will do some of the best ones.
    1) Fishing (Fiji style) - the way Fijians fish is using handlines instead of rods. What happens is you get shipped out into the middle of their glorious ocean with all its sea life. They take you to a spot where you will fish, but what I really enjoyed when we were fishing we were lucky to see fish jumping out of the water and back into it.
    2) A glorious pool right next to the ocean where you can get take your children for fun and play while you relax in a lounger, reading a book. They have a bar right next to it so when they hop out they can get something from the bar and feel good.
3)Every Friday night the staff have a Meke which is basically where they entertain you with their fijian dances. They had stuff like fan dances and men with carved stick dances, and it is all very exciting and kids can go too! You can also volunteer to join in where everyone does the conga and do religious dances. It is really fun and I would recommend volunteering.

It costs $559NZD per night on Expedia for 1 adult in 1 room & $7 558NZD for a week.
404 people commented on Tripadvisor say 5 star, 53 said 4 star, 12 said 3 star, 1 said 2 star, and no one said 1 star. Overall that is a big bunch of satisfied visitors that went to this Island Of Beauty. They said comments like Bliss!, Beautiful!, Ticks off everything on your 'Perfect Fiji Hideaway' list! etc. etc.

I hope that I have persuaded you to go to Paradise Cove - Fiji. And if you do, have a good time!

  22. Sit back; relax in the beautiful town of Brighton. Brighton is a seaside resort in England, only 1 hour away from London, (By train). From New Zealand to Brighton it will cost under $1700 dollars by Air New Zealand.
From carnivals to traditional English culture, Brighton has lots of fun activities going on all the time. For example why not shop till you drop at Brighton Pear or in summer chill out with a cold drink in your hand by the seaside. Or if you’re looking for something more cultural check out the Royal Pavilion Castel.
And for accommodation stay at Westbourne for $83, only 0.5 km away from the city centre.
I believe Brighton is a must do for a relaxing holiday.

Surfing is very popular in LA and that is another reason heaps of people go there.
Shopping is very popular in LA. You can buy all the luxury brands and also there are many outlet stores where you can get good deals.

  24. There are so many amazing places in this world it’s hard to choose but if I had to choose it would be Samoa, it is widely known as the heart of Polynesia or the treasure of the south Pacific, it would give you a great holiday because of it's beautiful weather, amazing beaches, incredibly kind people and it's own unique type of food.

When I visited Samoa we cooked our food outside and slept in a mosquito net. Should you go visit Samoa I'd might suggest going at the start of September because from the 4th to the 10th the Teuila festival would be on, it includes band flagging raising parade, Miss Samoa float parade, weaving lessons and many more.

Some Special things in Samoa you won't find in most places are blowholes it can give you quite a fright trust me I know , it's food you can get the normal food burgers, chips, smoothies etc.Or try traditional food like Oka, Taro, Palusami(taro leaves and coconut cream Yum.) or even a cold chilled coconut water.

Samoa is famous for many things from rugby to food but one of the most important aspect is the culture which is very strong (English is the second language). You can also experience the culture in the form of singing in the home, side of the road or in the church. Another way is in the dance (Siva) or Siva Afi (Fire dance.)

One that I would recommend is sleeping in a Samoan Fale (House) right on the beach, you will wake feeling like a real Samoan.

A good time to visit would be during Teuila (September 4-10 2016) or if you want to escape during winter than 1-4 June for the Samoan Independence celebrations would be cool also.

There are many activities to do in Samoa from golf, diving, surfing, swimming with turtles, fishing, markets, cycling, visit waterfalls or walk up Mt Vaea to see Robert Louis Stevenson grave or visit his home which is now a museum which holds many treasures.

Should you go to Samoa I recommend going to both Islands because both of the experience, Sava’ii was one of the best places I’ve ever been to. Reasons : the blowholes, swimming with the turtles, lava fields, Canopy walkway and many more. These are the reasons I would pick Samoa for a holiday destination because it has the qualities of a perfect holiday.

  25. Well, you want to go on holiday? Well this is the place to go - Gold Coast, Australia! The Gold Coast is a wonderful place to visit, with amazing theme parks and attractions, beautiful warm weather (and air conditioning!), mosquito nets, golf buggies, and lots of homes to stay in. Filled with cultural events, Brisbane is right next door, and with inexpensive direct flights from Wellington a great holiday experience is just a hop and a skip away.

Gold Coast is full of theme parks! Movie World is an amusement park based on Warner Brothers media and the DC universe. With Superman, Scooby Doo, Batman, and Green Lantern roller coasters, it’s got its fair share of thrills, with a Looney Tunes kids area to add some kid-friendliness. With a large set of buildings under a massive tarp, there are plenty of smaller things to do, with regular parades and movie trailers on display on a big screen. Also, at certain times during the day, there’s a super loud and action-packed race car stunt film on a large set. Finally, there’s a massive WIld West log ride.
In Seaworld, there’s a jet ski stunt show, a monorail train, a hotel, heaps of sea animal exhibits, cinema, insanely fast jet ski coaster, rescue boat coaster, and a Viking’s Revenge log ride. There is also a Nickelodeon themed kids’ zone with multiple small attractions and a cafe.
Wet’n’wild is full of different varieties of pools, with a main pool, lazy river, sky coaster, a multitude of slides, and a surfboard coaster. It’s a great place to relax, unwind or have a blast!
As well as these three parks, there are 2 more - Dreamworld (Australia’s largest!) and Whitewater World right next to it. All in all, the theme parks are one of the best reasons to visit Australia - and all the best ones are on the Gold Coast!.

If theme parks don’t appeal to everybody in the family, there’s plenty of other things to do. Brisbane offers a special museum filled with modern and ancient wonders, and the Currumbin wildlife sanctuary provides a wonderful opportunity to get up close with the amazing native wildlife of Australia.
Offering a train system, a multitude of animal exhibits, and a decent cafe, the Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary allows visitors to see fantastical Australian animals, such as different species of kangaroo, rainbow lorikeets, dingos, emus, wedge-tailed eagles, tasmanian devils, crocodiles, and, of course, koalas. As in terms of entertainment, there are multiple shows, like a bird show. For other activities, there is koala holding, pelican, eel, and saltwater crocodile feeding, and possum and echidna encounters. The sanctuary also holds a variety of events. Currumbin wildlife sanctuary offers multiple great animal-related activities and events, and is one of the top spots to go on the Gold Coast.

There are also forest parks and reserves, tree-top walkway experiences and plenty of ways to get outdoors and enjoy the beautiful environment and warm weather. And don’t forget Surfer’s Paradise - with it’s beautiful beaches, warm water and a bustling nightlife.

Since it is so close to New Zealand, you can reach Brisbane and the Gold Coast on relatively short, direct and inexpensive flights straight from Wellington. Australian society and culture is very similar to our own so it is easy to fit and feel comfortable - and Australians speak in an almost the same way as the people in New Zealand. It also provides similar weather conditions, the exception being the temperatures are often hotter than we get back home. There are lots of hotels to stay in, or you can rent beautiful homes (with swimming pools and golf carts!) at locations like Sanctuary Cove. So, in some ways, it’s like a warmer home away from home.

Overall, the Gold Coast is the place to go to, featuring short, inexpensive flights from NZ, a familiar culture and feel, beautiful warm weather, wonderful attractions like Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary and the Brisbane Museum, and multiple amazing theme parks.Gold Coast is a home away from home and an amazing adventure all at the same time.
